| Q. |
Will the OilMate system void my engines warranty? |
| A. |
If properly installed and maintained, OilMate will NOT void your engines warranty. |
|
| Q. |
What is the interval (cycle) between oil extractions? |
| A. |
It depends on the application. A typical genset application extraction cycle would be
every 1-minute, an OTR truck would be every 6 minutes, and a Humvee would be every 12
minutes. The smaller the sump size, the longer the cycle times.
|
|
| Q. |
How is the extraction interval determined? |
| A. |
It is generally determined by fuel consumption, the service interval requirement,
engine size and lube system capacity.
|
|
| Q. |
What amount of oil is extracted each time? |
| A. |
17 ml (~0.5 fl.oz.) extracted per cycle. |
|
| Q. |
Is the application limited to electronically controlled engines? |
| A. |
No, it is not. All that is required is a 12V or 24V-power supply, as the OilMate
has a built in controller.
|
|
| Q. |
Is the application limited to the newer high-pressure fuel injection pumps and nozzles? |
| A. |
No, it is not. The used oil is sent to the fuel return line where it is blended with
the fuel and then sent to the fuel tank.
|
|
| Q. |
What type of engines does OilMate work in? |
| A. |
The system can be used in all diesel engines. |
|
| Q. |
Does OilMate meet emissions guidelines? |
| A. |
The system has been EPA certified by Cummins; EPA aftermarket regulations hold if a
system has been certified on an engine of similar size.
|
|
| Q. |
What does the kit include? |
| A. |
The OilMate kit includes valve, controller, and wiring harness. There is an optional
make-up tank kit, which includes a 5 gallon tank and an oil level sensor (alerts
operator when oil level in make-up tank falls below a certain level).
|
|
| Q. |
What will this system extend my oil change to? |
| A. |
OilMate will extend oil change intervals to 525,000 miles/4,000 hours and filter change
intervals to 100,000 miles/1,000 hours.
|
|
| Q. |
Does OilMate affect the fuel filter? |
| A. |
The fuel filter change intervals are not affected. |
|
| Q. |
Is oil sampling still needed? |
| A. |
Oil sampling is recommended at regular change intervals. |
|
| Q. |
Does the system compensate for oil burned/lost in other areas of the engine? |
| A. |
No. |
|
| Q. |
What is the difference between Nitrile and Viton seals? |
| A. |
Nitrile seals are used for lower temperature ranges, while Viton seals are used for
higher temperature ranges. We recommend Viton seals, unless used in a special application.
